Let’s dive deep into the Lynwood Recreation Center!
This state-of-the-art facility’s remodel designed by NACArchitecture, with over 44,000 square feet dedicated to recreation fitness and swimming for the community, deserves a gold medal. As expected, the highly professional and talented Mortenson team did an excellent job of executing this challenging, extensive, and much-needed renovation. The long-awaited finished product turned out stunning.
The center’s pool captures our focus: completely illuminated by an abundance of natural light from its Kalwall® system we provided. Clean lines of translucent sandwich panels are safely secured to Structures Unlimited, Inc.'s lightweight, low-maintenance superstructure. The design utilized an existing and a new structure – engineered by SUI – to support the skylight over the entire pool. Operable panels slide down the roof to provide both ventilation and fresh air for the swimmers. Together, the Kalwall and Structures Unlimited materials work together to support this balanced, glare-free daylighting system, offering a spanning view of the sky above to employees and visitors alike.
Plus, the aquatic center and the daylighting feature was a contributing element toward the entire Lynnwood Recreation Center earning LEED Silver certification. We love to see when all our hard work makes a positive environmental impact, shining through today and for decades to come.
